School General Situation  

   School of Basic Medical Sciences is one of the School of Central South University. Its precursor was School of Basic Medical Sciences of Hunan Medical University.  There are 210 employees on the staff, including 23 full professors and 62 associate professors. There are altogether 10 departments and they are Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pathology, Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Human Parasitology, Immunology and Medical Ultrastructure Morphology. Basic Medical Sciences is the first-class discipline for doctorate training and all departments are entitled to grant PhD and Master degree. Pathology and Pathophysiology is a national key discipline while Pathogenic Biology, Human Anatomy-Histology and Embryology are provincial key disciplines. Basic Medical Sciences School is also one of the Postdoctoral Research Centers of Central South University.

  Basic Medical Sciences School is one of the key members for teaching and research in Central South University, with a highly qualified staff for teaching and research. The teaching and research facilities are also of the first rate. The School offers all the basic medical courses for all the medical students. It is centered on the teaching of the basic theory and the training of the experimental skills of its medical education. It gains several national and provincial awards for its high-quality education. There are 19 research centers in Basic Medical Sciences School and they win dozens of national and provincial grants recently. Several national and provincial prizes are awarded for its excellent findings in scientific research. International exchange is also a widely pursued activity. More than 100 staff members have been sent abroad for inspections and further studies. There also established extensive international research cooperation and academic exchange with dozens of oversea countries and districts.
